Madhya Pradesh High Court Case Status

Check MP High Court case status by case number or party name. The court runs from three places: Jabalpur, Indore and Gwalior, and each keeps its own register.

Pick the right seat first. A case filed at Indore won't show up in a Jabalpur search. If you're not sure which you're after, it's printed on every order in the matter.

Before you search

Four things, and all four have to be right.

Get one wrong and you get an empty result, not an error. That's what makes these searches so frustrating.

Worth keeping to hand: your CNR, the 16-character code printed on every order and filing receipt. It never changes, so it's the thing to quote when you deal with the registry, and it's what a district court search takes as its key.

Benches

Pick the right seat, or you'll find nothing.

Each bench of the MP High Court keeps its own register and its own cause list. A case filed at one simply doesn't appear in a search of another, and that, far more than anything else, is why a search you're sure should work comes back empty.

Cause list

Where your case falls in the day.

The registry publishes the next day's running order each evening: court number, bench, and where your matter sits in the list. Each bench publishes its own. Find your case above, then track it and we'll tell you when it's next listed.

Other names

Same court, different names.

People search the Madhya Pradesh High Court as MPHC, Jabalpur High Court, High Court Indore, High Court Gwalior. They're all the same court, and this page covers every one of them.

Questions

The things people ask us.

How do I check MP High Court case status by case number?

Select your bench (Jabalpur, Indore or Gwalior), pick the case type, then enter the case number and filing year. All four together identify the case.

Are Jabalpur, Indore and Gwalior searched separately?

Yes. Each is a separate registry with its own case numbering and its own cause list. This is the usual reason an MP High Court search returns nothing. The case is real, but filed at a different seat.

What is the MPHC cause list?

MPHC is the standard abbreviation for the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The daily cause list is published per bench for the next working day, showing court number and case order.

Can I search MP High Court without knowing the bench?

Not yet on this page. A search here runs against one seat at a time, so pick Jabalpur, Indore or Gwalior. The seat is printed on your filing receipt and on every order in the matter.

Which MP High Court bench covers my district?

Jabalpur is the principal seat and covers the Mahakoshal region. Indore covers the Malwa and Nimar districts, and Gwalior the Chambal region. Each keeps its own register.

Does the MP High Court still hear Chhattisgarh matters?

On this register. Chhattisgarh was part of Madhya Pradesh until November 2000, so anything filed before the separation stayed with the MP High Court rather than moving to the Chhattisgarh High Court.

If this isn't your court

Where to look instead.

Filed somewhere else? Chhattisgarh High Court, Rajasthan High Court and Allahabad High Court sit next door. If you are not sure which High Court a case belongs to, the full High Court case status list is the place to start, and the seat is decided by where the case was filed rather than where you live.

A matter below the High Court will not be on this register at all. For those, use court case status across 700+ district courts, which also accepts a CNR.

We read the public eCourts record, so this is only as current as the registry has published. If something turns on a deadline or a limitation period, check with the registry or your advocate. Don't rely on us for that. If it's the law itself you need, the bare acts are here in full.
